Windfall Dutch Barn

 Salt Springville Community Restoration

The History Behind the Barn

The Windfall Dutch Barn is a pre-revolutionary restored structure, seated on its original site, located in the hamlet of Salt Springville, NY (Co Rd 31). This site was used as a resting and feeding place during the wagon march by General Clinton on the way to the Susquehanna River, consisting of 400 boats, loaded on wagons, and 3000 patriots, during the revolutionary war.

This historic site has for more than 25 years been, and is now used as an entertainment center for the neighboring communities bringing concerts, dances, exhibitions, games, crafts, quilt shows and poetry readings to the general public and is also available for

private parties, such as wedding receptions and reunions, etc.

The organization is not for profit, and is being governed by a volunteer board of trustees. Its historic significance is obvious and was recognized by the National Register and the State Historic Register as a historic site.

Please realize that the barn is not just any place - it is an historic place, a charming place, a highly unique place, a place with great acoustic values and it should be treated with great respect, not only for our forefathers, who built it, but as a treasure of our heritage.

The windfall dutch barn is managed by a board of volunteering trustees, who are caring for the welfare of the Barn, but they are not caretakers of the barn. Please park only at the parking lots, The handicapped may be dropped off. Band members usually park in the back.

Thank you, we appreciate your cooperation.

Let's keep America clean, beginning at our historical places!
